Installing TarmacDry at B&Q Portsmouth
Pompey Centre Car Park
In August 2002 TarmacDry was installed on the parking area at the Pompey Centre retail park, Portsmouth, the first live TarmacDry contract. The contract was for a 20,000m2 full depth porous pavement infiltration system. Part of the pavement was expected to be heavily trafficked, near the B&Q builders merchants store entrance and other sections of the car park lightly trafficked.
The installation of the patented TarmacDry system was completed in December 2002.
The hydraulic performance of the TarmacDry porous pavement on installation produced results well in excess of 5,000 mm/hr. As part of the Tarmac maintenance package, in 2008 the site was assessed for hydraulic conductivity. In the heavily trafficked areas hydraulic conductivity had reduced to below 1,000 mm/hr whilst the lightly trafficked area's were still performing in excess of 5,000 mm/hr. The heavily trafficked area was subsequently cleaned, restoring the performance of the system in excess of 3,000 mm/hr.
